Pastoral Council

St. Bernard’s Pastoral Council serves as a forum of consultation for the pastor through which he seeks the Council member’s reactions and advice regarding important plans and initiatives related to the life, mission and pastoral plan of the parish. 

 The role of the council, in accord with Pastoral Council Guidelines of the Diocese of Rockville Centre and with Canon Law, is consultative and not deliberative.

The current pastoral council was appointed by the pastor in February of 2010.  There was a nomination process by which any parishioner could nominate him or herself for a position on the council.  The pastor and staff reviewed the nomination forms and invited some of the nominees to participate in interviews with the staff.  At the conclusion of the nominating process, the following parishioners were appointed to the Pastoral Council:

The members serve terms of 2 or 3 years.
