Thanks to everyone who has been dropping off school supplies for our children.If anyone is able to provide abackpack and/or loose leaf binders, that would be particularly helpful.But, of course, we are happy to accept any kind of school supplies to share with our families.In addition, Target and Walmart cards would be appreciated so parents can purchase some back-to-school clothes and shoes.Again, many thanks!

The Ellis IslandImmigrationMuseum has many wonderful exhibits, including the Traveling Exhibition ~ Women & Spirit:Catholic Sisters in America.This exhibit was initiated at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC and has traveled extensively throughout the country.
We are planning a day trip to Ellis Island on Friday, October 15th, 2010.The trip will be conducted by Rendezvous Travel and will include travel on a deluxe motor coach and ferry, a visit to the Ellis IslandMuseum, a stop at Liberty Island to view the Statue of Liberty, 3-course lunch at In Napoli, and return trip home.The cost is $79.00 per person.We have a flier in our office if you wish to know more.The trip is limited to 40 people.If you wish to sign up, you may send a check for $79.00 directly to Rendezvous Travel, 2154 Seneca Drive N., Merrick, NY11566 to reserve a place on the trip.

Parish Social Ministry is a partnership between Catholic Charities and the St. Bernard’s faith community.The ministry is rooted in the gifts of the people of God, enabling those within the parish community to serve and support those in need.More than 50 trained and dedicated volunteers assist in providing services to those in need in the Levittown community.
Food Pantry - Parish Social Ministry and St. Vincent de Paul Society volunteers work together to provide a food pantry so that those in need may receive staples of food and other items which supplement what they need to purchase.A list of items which are always in demand can be found by following the link to:***If a group, troop, society or individual is interested in conducting a food drive at any time, we would be happy to speak with you about the details.We are always happy to accept donations of (unexpired) food, and monetary donations in any shape or form.We are committed to be responsible stewards of whatever we receive.Food donations may be dropped off at the Parish Social Ministry Office, or at the food bins in the church. Social Services - Guidance is available for those who need to access services from NassauCounty, through the Department of Social Services.Such services include food stamps, Medicaid, the Home Energy Assistance Program, etc.To find out if your might be eligible for benefits of this kind, check the websitewww.mybenefits.ny.gov .If you need help accessing the website, come in to our office and we’ll help!For those ineligible for these benefits, we might be able to assist you from our resources.
Meals-on-Wheels:Each Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning, Catholic Charities drops off prepared meals which our parishioners caringly deliver to frail seniors living in Levittown.In addition to the meals, seniors receive a brief visit, and an extra pair of watchful eyes to make sure the senior is up and about and managing well.Our drivers are wonderful men and women who truly care about the well-being of their elders.If you would like to know more about the program, and perhaps volunteer to drop off a meal, please call or email the PSM office.
