"Parents are the first and foremost catechists of their children. They catechize infomally but powerfully by example and instruction. They communicate values and attitudes by showing love for Christ and His Church and for each other, by receiving the Eucharist and living its spirit, and by fostering justice and love in all their relationships. Parents nuture faith in their children by showing them the richness and beauty of lived faith." The Religious Education Program of St. Bernard's Parish is based on the philosophy that the formal aspects of the parish are not meant to be a substitute, but rather a support and enchancement of the life of faith being lived in the home environment, the "domestic church".A child's faith formation is a journey of deepening their relationship with Jesus. That relationship is nourished primarily by the family faith life and by participation in the life of St. Bernard's Parish, especially Sunday Mass attendance.
