CATHOLIC SCOUTING AWARDS BROWNIE AWARDS: AVE MARIA - The “Ave Maria” Diocesan Award Program is offered to Brownies in the second and third grades. Its purpose is to help each girl become more aware of God’s presence in her daily life, especially within her home and community, under the protection and care of her special patroness, the Blessed Mother. The work is done on an individual basis, and the scout will receive her medal at Girl Scout Sunday in March. Book - $2.75 Medal - $4.00 (Medal to be paid for upon completion of book) FAMILY OF GOD - The “Family of God” National Award is offered to Brownies in the second and third grades. Its purpose is to help the Brownie Girl Scout explore a wide range of activities and discover the presence of God in her daily life as a member of her family, her parish and her Brownie Troop. The work is done on an individual basis, and the scout will receive her medal at Girl Scout Sunday in March. Book - $4.75 Medal - $5.00 (Medal to be paid for upon completion of book) JUNIOR AWARDS: I LIVE MY FAITH - The “I Live My Faith” National Award is offered to all Juniors. Its purpose is to help the scout appreciate more deeply the place that God and religion occupy in her life. Girls work with a trained consultant or parent and are encouraged to work in a group setting. Participation in the Day of Recollection (September or October) is required. It will take an average of 6 months to complete the work, which is due to the diocese in January. The scout receives the award at the Convocation at St. Agnes Cathedral the following Spring. Book - $4.75 Medal - $6.00 There may be additional costs for supplies. Book - $2.75 Medal - $5.50 There may be additional costs for supplies. CADETTE/SENIOR AWARDS: MARIAN AWARD - The “Marian Medal” National Award is offered to Cadette Girl Scouts in the 8th or 9th Grade or to any Senior Girl Scout. 7th Grade Cadettes may begin working on the award, as it takes approximately 1 year to complete the projects and activities required. Participation in the Diocesan “Marian Encounter” is required. The work is completed with a trained moderator and encouraged to be completed in a group setting. The deadline for completion of the work is January. The scout receives the award at the Convocation at St. Agnes Cathedral the following Spring. Book - $4.75 Medal – $12.00 There may be additional costs for supplies. ST. AGNES AWARD - The “St. Agnes” Diocesan Award is offered to Senior Girl Scouts. Its purpose is to encourage a girl to gain additional knowledge and understanding of her Catholic faith while pursuing Senior Scout skills, experiences and opportunities to give service. The program is done under the supervision of a trained consultant. The deadline for completion of the work is January. The scout receives the award at the Convocation at St. Agnes Cathedral the following Spring. Book - $3.00 Medal – $12.00 SPIRIT ALIVE AWARD - The “Spirit Alive” program is the official national religious program for Senior Girl Scouts of the Catholic faith. The program is designed to assist the young women in discovering how the Holy Spirit moves within her life, calling her to a greater participation in the ministry of the Church. Approximate time for completion of the work is 1 year; working with a trained consultant. The deadline for completion of the work is January. The scout receives the award at the Convocation at St. Agnes Cathedral the following Spring. Book - $4.75 Medal - $12.00 There may be additional costs for supplies.
